Trip to California
I always love getting up early especially when I'm traveling. Michelle and I were up and out right at 5:30. It was a quick trip down to Dover and we were able to stop at DD for a chai and a quick bathroom break. Off to the train and I only waited 15 minutes for the train. I really enjoyed the train trip in finding Kevin who was putting on his tie and I asked if he always did that and that was a yes.
I wasn't shy and enjoyed talked with different people on the train. I found everyone was so helpful and Kevin said he was going to the Jamaica station that I was traveling too and would help me with my large bag. I was so glad that Kevin helped me in Penn Station since there were so many people and so many ways to go. After I found that all would have worked but it felt so great to have Kevin, who gave me that extra security that I'd get to the right subway. I found out that Kevin is a Mortgage lawyer from Dallas who travels everywhere to doing foreclosures. I gave him my card.
From Jamaica I caught the Airtrain upstairs that was by the LIRR which I could have taken as well. I met Marion on the airtrain that just happened to be going to my terminal and flying on my flight. There are no coincidences. She helped me get off on the right stop.
It was so great to have a helping hand and I do love traveling Mass Transit!!!
Checking in was strange since everyone had to go over to premier check in. I found my bag was 14 pounds over weight and I was charged and extra $100. Lesson learned. I must learn how to pack lighter or carry 2 bags.
The flight though full was great since I had an isle seat and was the last row so right by the bathrooms. This flight had wonderful premier seating with great layout seats for the first class passengers. There were many movies and tv shows to watch and I was able to get a couple hours of sleep. We did have to wait an extra hour to get into the air but that was a sleep time for me so didn't notice.
Arriving in San Francisco was good too and before long I had my bag and found my way to the airtrain here to get to Bart. Once on Bart, I again found a nice gentlemen that helped me figure out my get off stop. It got really crowded in the city and I started moving over to the exit at Montgomery since Embaredero was the next one and there were 10 people standing in the isle that I had to get through. People were nice and held the door open for me so that worked great.
Now how to get to the top where Mason, Julie's boyfriend was waiting for me. I tried 2 different escalator's which were both broken. Just as I started up the stairs with my suit case another angel told me that there was an elevator and she was going towards it and helped me find it. I am so amazed at the lovely people everywhere.
Mason came running giving me my drink I has asked for, and off we ran to the Ferry and to Julie. Jule wasn't feeling well and went home early. She's having surgery on Tuesday so needs to be healthy and happy. We just made the ferry and Mason was so good in getting my ticket and showing me how to travel the ferry.
Julie picked us up and we got to her place. It was such a relief and pleasure to see her. We were all hungry so went to an nice Mexican restaurant which was a few blocks from her place in Alameda.
Just one more thing to do and that was to take Julie's car to my sister Pam's in Vallejo. I thought I had uploaded the maps to my gps but evidently I didn't do it right since it didn't have any there. Mason took my gps and started uploading. I decided not to wait since it was 8:30 and I wanted to get to Pam's so used my phone and waze. It worked well with Julie's explicit instructions. While I was driving I saw that my phone wasn't charging. Not sure I'd have cell when I got there, but it all worked fine and I found Pam's with no problems.
Pam has a lovely home and the rooms are nice and roomy. I'm not sure what today will bring but I had a great time getting here.
